BLUE ASH, Ohio -- Two weeks after the devastating earthquake killed hundred of thousands of people in Haiti, the Tri-State is continuing its relief efforts. Those efforts are getting a big boost from Cincinnati sports and radio personalities at the Matthew 25Ministries offices in Blue Ash on Tuesday.
700WLW Radio brought out stars from the Cincinnati Reds, Bengals and the Cyclones to volunteer as well as accept vital donations of money and supplies from the public.
Although the event didn't start until 9:30 a.m., the loading dock at Matthew 25 was already a buzz of activity with hundreds of volunteers loading two dozen truck loads of needed supplies for Port-au-Prince and Haiti.
Those volunteers are getting extra help from the front office of the Cincinnati Reds, including former pitcher Tom Browning and first baseman Lee May. They were more than happy to help sort laundry and other items that are bound for Haiti.
Browning, May and others are, in part, to encourage the rest of the public to continue donating money, time and supplies to help the millions of affected by the deadly earthquake.
"It's pretty neat to help and this organization has done such amazing things. Whatever they ask me to do. I'm willing to help," said Browning.
"I've watched those pictures on TV and seen all the suffering going on in Haiti. I am sure they will really appreciate this," said May.
Noted Cincinnati musician and restauranteur Bootsy Collins was also among the celebrity volunteers on hand.
Matthew 25 Ministries needs cleaning and personal supplies, like toothbrushes and toothpaste, along with non-perishable foods.
Reds Announcer Marty Brennaman and former Cincinnati Bengal Dave Lapham also helped out at Matthew 25 Ministries.
Cincinnati Cyclone players are expected help out between 1 p.m. and 5 p.m.
Matthew 25 Ministries is at 11060 Kenwood Road, just north of Creek Road.
