Weezy posts commentary on Donovan McNabb, the NFL draft and March Madness.
Months ago, Lil Wayne expressed his hope that he'd be able to keep up with sports while serving his yearlong prison sentence at Rikers Island. Apparently, the wish of Birdman Jr. — who actually has a tattoo of the ESPN logo — has been fulfilled. On Wednesday (April 14), Wayne updated his new blog, WeezyThanxYou.com, with his latest observations.
First up, Wayne says he thinks the Philadelphia Eagles dropped the ball by trading star QB Donovan McNabb to division rivals the Washington Redskins.
"McNabb to the Skins ... wow!" he says in the blog (whose curator gave MTV News a sneak peek at the post). "I think this will be a great thing for all involved, except the Eagles. One reason is because I don't think Andy Reid was ready to part ways with the soon-to-be 34-year-old veteran. He still had a year left on paper with the Eagles. And though I don't think they would've given him an extension, for some reason I think Andy would've liked to see Donovan play it out. I don't think he was the brains behind that move. I think this was above him."
Weezy says that although McNabb's Eagles days are behind him, he'll still soar with the Redskins and their legendary coach Mike Shanahan. The Grammy winner also thinks Eagles QBs Kevin Kolb and Michael Vick are going to face a challenge filling Donovan's cleats.
"Get 'em, Donovan!" he exclaims in the blog.
With the NFL draft kicking off next Thursday night, Wayne gave his insight as to who will be in the top of the class. "My Top 5 NFL Draft Picks are: 1. Ndamukong Suh / Jimmy Clausen," Weezy wrote. "2. Gerald McCoy. 3. Eric Berry. 4. Dez Bryant. 5. Russell Okung."
Finally, Wayne closes out his post saluting the NCAA male and female basketball champs.
"Congrats to Duke & Coach K, as well as UCONN women and gents," he says. "I think both of those guys need new day jobs. More complicated ones. NBA, WNBA!"
