Shane Mosley was scheduled to face Andre Berto for a WBC and WBA Welterweight title unification bout on January 30, 2010. However, the fight (and entire undercard) was called off on January 18, 2010 due to the earthquake in Haiti and Berto losing several family members in the disaster. Negotiations for a proposed matchup between Mosley and Floyd Mayweather Jr. immediately began afterwards, ending with both sides agreeing to a set date of May 1, 2010 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. It was then revealed that the fight has a rematch clause: in case of a Mosley win, Mayweather can exercise the clause and fight him once again.
From July 18, 2005 through June 2, 2008 he was rated by The Ring magazine as the number-one pound for pound boxer in the world.[1] Mayweather has won six world boxing championships in five different boxing weight classes; he is the former WBC welterweight champion, a title he vacated upon his retirement. He was named Ring Magazine Fighter of the Year in 1998 and 2007.
Floyd will soon be mentioned as one of the greatest.
