A man died early Sunday morning after jumping from the Fourth Street Bridge into the Licking River. Newport police said at approximately 1:02 a.m., officers were sent to the 400 block of Chestnut Way for a disorderly black male. Officers found a naked man standing on top of a vehicle and challenging residents to fight. When officers approached, the man fled on foot north toward the bridge. When the man reached the bridge's center, he jumped into the river. His body was found a short time later. The man's name has not been released.
